The Shag River 2008/09
It was with much curiosity that I ventured out for my first look at the Shag River for the season.
I was very much pleased with the results from the winter flood events and found the river has maintained the character and great fish holding structure but there has been a little bit of a clean out and many of the less attractive things like snags and inconvenient gravel banks have been improved.
There is still a reasonably high flow which is normal for this time of year and the water was ever so slightly coloured, this and the hatch of mayflies really was good news.

My first outing for this season... First fish caught here
